What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with everything from backend datastores to application servers, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS. While this position will work primarily with Javascript, React, and HTML/CSS, there will be a good amount of work in Python and MySQL. The candidate should be familiar with development Best Practices such as Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Domain Driven Design and Refactoring, with working knowledge of how to apply them appropriately.

As a member of a small team focused on specific software components, you will help develop and improve software services that power Discogs. This developer will work on improving and scaling our applications using deployment tools such as Docker and Amazon Web Services. This role will play a big part in supporting and growing our community of collectors, contributors, buyers, and sellers. Considering this will require working closely with other Discogs software teams, it will be critical to exercise a strong sense of initiative and collaboration.

Your Wheelhouse

  • Develops and maintains software following an Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Collaborates with team members on troubleshooting and creating elegant solutions to complex problems
  • Assists with estimation and prioritisation of development efforts
  • Actively engages with members of cross-functional, product-focused teams to build a variety of features
  • Provides mentoring to other developers
  • Guides technical decisions related to front-end development
  • Ensures our web application is usable and consistent across many platforms and devices

How You Got Here

  • Two or more years of experience building scalable and high traffic web applications
  • Thorough understanding of Full Stack Web Development and Object-Oriented programming
  • Preference for Open Source software tools
  • Proven track record of shipping code and getting things done
  • Experience with automated testing and test-driven development
  • Demonstrates effective communication with a global team in multiple time zones
